marriage~

something struck me yesterday nite while i was watching 2 episodes of ON THE ROAD in ntv7.

dis time d show take us to INDIA - the 2nd world's largest population..
hosted by michelle,dis 2 episodes take us to an inside look of d marital ritual..

in india, the people is still instilling their strong believe in holding a marital wedding..
dis includes choosing a son/daughter in law, organising the celebration..and lots more!~
the indian community consists of four different levels - kasta in malay [we learnt about it back in F4]..
so when it comes to finding an ideal husband or wife for the children,
d parents tend to find from the menantu from the same level..
besides that, parents tend to find menantu that share a similar interest as them..

here are a few things i learnt from d show:
1. the girl's side will be paying for all the wedding expenses..
2. there are so many pantang-larang for a girl who's going to get married in just a few days!
3.all d family members including d youngs and olds will gather/living together in a hostel for a week or two to attend d wedding.
4.d eldest uncle who also help out in settling d marriage expenses.
5.on d wedding day, d bridegroom will ride on female white horse or elephant..having to ride a female horse symbolises d bridegroom will be more powerful den d bride..
6.d bridegroom's attire is made up of real money..
7.d bride and d bridegroom were allowed to meet according to parents arrangement..

well,i guess different culture has different approach towards marital stuffs.
and if my parents have a marital arrangement for me, i surely will not go for it..
